Don’t like the new Sonos Desktop Controller’s 3.5 icons?

July 21st, 2011 Author: Categories: Macs, Software, Tips

I woke up this morning and started my sonos controller to play some music only to realize upon updating to their new software; my icon for the controller app looks like some iphone developer hijacked the program.

At first I ignored it but as the day grew, my annoyance took the better of me and I found the old icons in my trash bin and took it out and applied it to the new application’s folder.

Here how I did it.

1. location the applications folder
2. right click on ‘sonos desktop controller’
3. in the drop down menu, pick ‘Show Package Content’
4. the click on ‘content’ folder follow by the ‘Resources’ folder
5. here you will see many icons two of which are controller.icns and controller.png.
6. replace them with the old version provided in the link below.

I’ll post the link in a few days as soon as I figure out how to do it again! :p I haven’t been posting on my site in a while and the workflow is disrupted.

it comes to scrolling through music libraries, searching for songs, viewing album art, choosing zones, and more, the Sonos Desktop Controller makes it all incredibly easy. Just pick a room, pick a song and hit play to let the fun begin. And, with your computer’s bigger screen size, everything is easy to see.

I am using an intel based imac (latest one). I am running Mac OS X 10.5.3. I used “Parralles Desktop” to install windows XP and it was working fine. Recently, I upgraded to Vista and now I can not connect to the internet. The problem seems to be that Vista is not detecting the network adapters. What do I do?

My controller LCD screen has two pixels near the bottom right corner that don’t seem to be working – when in Play or any of the menus, these pixels are black. The weird thing is that when the controller wakes up from a deep sleep, at the blue Sonos screen, those pixels are working. Not a huge deal, really, just something odd I noticed…..

When it comes to playing music, we believe all rooms should be created equal. That’s why you can put ZonePlayers in absolutely any room where you want music – either connected directly to speakers or to your home theater and stereo system.

A file deletion programmeis what you mean I think. In essence all this does is write a random sequence of 1s and 0s to the disc completely eradicating all files. You can choose the number of times it completes the task.
