helpful tipsIncreasingly more people are ditching their landlines for mobile phones and voip. A friend of mine who use to work for a telephone company said phone company’s reliability and their infrastructures are the result of the cold war. There are lots of redundancies in phone lines to keep those system running in case of an emergency. When was the last time the power AND phone went out at your residence during a storm? As times have changed, even my friend has now switched from his fail proof landline to VOIP. This brings up an interesting question. What do you do when you want to send a fax and you have no phone line?

You can go to the local Kinkos and send it there for a fee. You can install something like MagicJack or Vontage to get a phone line over the internet. The one I use currently is:

I simply scan what I want into the computer as a pdf, jpg, or Word document and send it at their site. The while process is very easy and the best part is it’s FREE! Another plus is you don’t have to worry about incurring long distance charges.

If you want to fax something you’ve created in MS Word or anything already on your computer, it can’t get any easier than this.

I know there are many other free fax services out there, please let me know what you’ve use and how you like it.
