HP Photosmart D7145 Vista XP Drivers

July 10th, 2009

HP comes out with new printer in what seems like every 30 days. When I’m at the electronic store I see a new printer with incremental model numbers that distinguish it from its’ predecessor every time I look. With thousands if not hundreds of thousands of printers to wade through to find your exact print, it can be dificult to locate the software needed to get your old printer running on a new OS. If you are looking for windows vista or xp driver for your HP photosmart d7145, here is what you will get.

Basically, HP somehow forgot they made this model and does not display an information page for the product.

Microsoft Security Essentials download

June 25th, 2009

Microsoft is late getting in the game but it is slowly deploying tools to help Windows users combat virus and malware. Microsoft Security Essentials is the next step in rebuilding their sullied image. In the past they have released Windows Antispyware; later renamed Defender. As a standalone download, not many people heard about it and even less used it on their Windows XP machines. As of Vista and beyond, Defender is included in your OS for really Microsoft’s protection. From the complaints I hear in the field, one of the top reason people are switching to the Mac is their lack of viruses.

Download Windows 7 for free!

May 3rd, 2009

If you have an old machine that has at least 2gb of ram and a fairly decent video card, why not give windows 7 a try? If you are adventuresome and do not mind an occasional crash or freeze, install windows 7 beta will allow you to see what is coming down the pipe at Microsoft. I can tell you from using it for a few months now that THIS is the OS they should have released instead of Vista. Therefore I think of Vista now as the Windows ME of today. Both should have been in the oven longer and neither should have been made available for the public to buy and beta test for Microsoft.

You can go HERE to sign on and get a CD key for the beta program.

Please don’t use this windows 7 on your mission critical machine.

*UPDATE* The beta program is closed but not to worry, I hear on May 2nd Microsoft will open the doors once again. This time it’s for a Release Candidate of the software. See you there!
